How to install the Computing Dictionary

All the necessary data is available at http://www.esperanto.mv.ru/Download/KompLeks/.

Structure of the distribution

«Komputika Leksikono» is a hypertext in HTML. It is available in a variaty of character sets:

All the versions of the Lexicon are generated from one same source (a set of text files in Latin-3) with the help of a C program. You can either download a pregenerated set of HTML files in an appropriate encoding, or you can generate them from the sources; in the latter case you can generate HTML files in some other chasets, namely KOI-8 and ASCII.

The whole Lexicon shall reside in two folders:

  1. an HTML folder, whose name is irrelevant (e.g. KL)
  2. the folder KL/BILDOJ, the files whereof do not depend on charset and do not reference anything.

Latin-3 fonts

under Unix
one can use Latin-3 en X (W3, Netscape …):
for Macintosh
M. Urban has made two screen fonts available via
ELNA, Esperanto League of North America, Box 1129, El Cerrito, CA 94530, 415 653–0998;
under MS-DOS
you can use programs for EGA, VGA: ftp://ftp.stack.nl/pub/esperanto/fonts.dir/iloj.zip and a browser like Lynx (Linko).
under MS-Windows
there are a few TrueType fonts, available at
Actually the Lexicon needs mostly those characters of Latin-3 which are also available in Latin-1 plus the accented Esperanto letters; i.e. one can use an ANSI character set modified so that it has the accented Esperanto characters in the positions defined for them in Latin-1. Such fonts can be downloaded from the FEL WWW-site.

Here is a test to check the rendering of the accented letters on your screen.
